Did you know that the average human being thinks at least 6,200 thoughts a day?
Unfortunately, a majority of the human thought is self-centered, and is concentrated around what others think of us, what to wear, things that could go wrong, etc.. Since the human mind conjures up thoughts at velocity speed (one-twentieth of a second), anxiety is a prevalent issue in society; especially amongst women. It is estimated that about 6.8 million people in America struggle with anxiety!
The good news? Jesus.
We are told to bring each of our thoughts in obedience to Christ. Only...it's a choice that we, as Christians, must make daily. It's a decision to "die" to ourselves and live for righteousness; to forsake our own desires, and do what He says is right.
"casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ," (2 Cor. 10:5 KJV)
It is only when we take that step of surrender, that we can find true peace. Why? Jesus is that peace (the Prince of Peace).
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Phil. 4:6-7 ESV)
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6 ESV)
Did you know that you think at least 6,200 thoughts a day?
What are those thoughts going to be about?
Or, rather, who are those thoughts going to be centered around?
It's a choice. One thought at a time.
Wow! I love this! Very well written!
