Hello again! Ok, so you are probably wondering why I'm posting this only a couple days after my first post just came out. (Or maybe not but you are about to find out anyway!) Ok, so Lord willing I will hopefully post every Friday or weekend. You are also probably thinking I'm some kind of weirdo for clarifying this so I'm gonna move on.
TOPIC: THE ALMIGHTY ONE
I love the book of Revelation. Like I said in my BJU bio, I'm probably one of the only people you will ever meet who has a strange obsession with Revelation - or just the future in general. I like knowing what is going to happen in the future, so that's probably why I'm so keen on Revelation. Revelation 1:8 gives me this comfort I know I won't find anywhere else. "I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”- Revelation 1:8
Now, the ALPHA and OMEGA are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. Do you know why Jesus choose those letters to describe Himself? Because Jesus is both the BEGINNING and the END, and the the goal of all history. The Bible study stools website really elaborates on this verse to fully understand the meaning of "I am the first and the last."
"So Christ, he is the Alpha, the chief as to his divine nature, being God over all, blessed for ever; and in his divine sonship, none, angels or men, are in such sense the Son of God as he is...he also in some sense may be said to be the Omega, the last and the lowest; as in his state of humiliation, he was not only made lower than the angels, but than man; he was despised and rejected of men, and scarcely reckoned a man, a worm, and no man; and he humbled himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross."
I think that Jesus is the most awesome person ever. He is the King of all but lowered Himself lower than the angels to bear our sins - not just the big booboos but every single little snide word we ever said. He had been in his Father's presence since the beginning, but He obeyed His Father's command to die for us, which meant God had to turn His back on Jesus. That really wrenches my heart to think about that. He did that for us.
I understand this was not a very positive post; it is the truth, and I believe everyone needs to hear the truth no matter how difficult it is to hear because ultimately it is the Good News, as John Piper said, "The best news of the Christian gospel is that the supremely glorious Creator of the universe has acted in Jesus Christ's death and resurrection to remove every obstacle between us and himself so that we may find everlasting joy in seeing and savoring his infinite beauty."
BOTTOM LINE: The Almighty one, the First and the Last to everything came down from the Right Hand of the Father in heaven to bear our sins so we could be with Him forever in heaven.
