True or False: Communication in a relationship is unimportant.
False!
Communication is VITAL in relationships, ask any married couple. Communication is the key to a healthy friendship, and right fellowship with one another
As Christians, our communication with God (prayer) is no different.
Crazy as it may sound, God wants to talk with us!
He desires to be your friend!
See, when Jesus finished His work on the cross, paying for all of mankind's' sins for eternity, the barrier between God and us was broken. (This was symbolized by the temple curtain tearing in two).
"Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom;..." (Matthew 27:51 NKJV)
In other words, everyone has FREE ACCESS to God at anytime and in anyplace!
"...through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." (Romans 5:2 NKJV)
God is never too busy to talk with you.
He doesn't think you are a waste of His time.
He doesn't think that what you have to say is unimportant or boring.
He is willing to listen.
He is willing to hear you out.
"Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." (1 John 5:14 NKJV)
Here is the tricky part, however.
God doesn't speak audibly back to us.
Or does He?
When asked the question of whether or not God speaks to us, someone once said,
"If you want to hear God speak to you, read His word out loud."
Brothers and sisters, that is the truth!
If you would, read God's word (the Bible) out loud; and you may find that He does, indeed, speak to you.
It may never be a thunderous voice from heaven.
It may never be writing on the wall.
It may never be written in the clouds or the stars.
It may merely be still, small voice, like what Elijah heard from God (1 Kings 19).
Finally, friends, when speaking with other people, you grow closer, correct?
Same with God.
When you choose to purposefully plan a time to simply "chat" with God, you will find that you grow closer in your friendship with Him, as well.
Talk to God; He's willing to listen.
I love when u post this stuff. It's a real wake-up call whenever I slip up somewhere in my daily walk with God. You should really consider being a motivational speaker if u aren't already!
