Hello World! - 10/14/22

Hiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!

It’s been a minute! I didn’t think I would be as busy this summer as I was. Turns out lifeguarding takes up quite a bit of your time! Now that I’m back I’ve got plenty of stuff to write about, I just have to figure out how to get my stories onto paper…😅 I think I’ll start with the most recent news and upcoming events, but first a joke!

I always carry a stone with me that I use to throw at people who play Christmas music in October.

I call it my Jingle Bell Rock.

Well first of all my aunt’s wedding is next Saturday!! I’m so excited!!!

My aunt and soon-to-be uncle babysit his niece, who is going to be the flower girl at their wedding. And my brothers are going to be the ring bearer & flower girl’s escort (aka flower boy/pal). So last Monday they brought her over to meet them before the wedding and it was so much fun! She is the cutest, sweetest little thing ever!

Well, that’s all for the weekly news. I couldn’t really think of anything else.

Next, I want to share a story of how amazing God’s plan is!

This story takes place during the week of VBS. I volunteered to be a Captain, but I wouldn’t know what group I would have until the volunteer orientation on the Sunday evening before VBS. I knew it was up to God, but I was really praying for a group 3rd grade or younger. I was afraid that any older wouldn’t listen or obey me as well, since I’m shorter and the older the group I got, the closer they would be to my own age. Well, the orientation day came, and I found that I had gotten…..5th grade. Yep. I wanted Kindergarten and got the exact opposite. After the events of that day were over, though, I was surprised to realize that I felt peace about it. I was less nervous for that first day of a crazy week than I would’ve been if I had gotten a younger group because I knew and was reassured that this was God’s plan. Turns out, I had what I believe will be one of my favorite VBS experiences that week! My kids were great, and I believe a friendship was formed with some of them. In fact, we’re even planning on meeting up in the Middle school room after service sometime, as well as requesting each other for Middle school summer camp! (Me as one of their counselors, of course.) It was an amazing experience, and I’m so glad that God didn’t give me what I thought I wanted. I would’ve missed out on so much if He had!

Fun Facts About Today: (October 14) In 1926 Winnie-the-Pooh made his literary debut. In 1644 William Penn was born. In 1977 Bing Crosby died. Today is national dessert day! Today is also national I love you day!!

Quote of the Day: “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

“In October, a maple tree before your window lights up your room like a great lamp. Even on cloudy days, its presence helps to dispel the gloom.” ~John Burroughs

“October is crisp days and cool nights, a time to curl up around the dancing flames and sink into a good book.” ~John Sinor

I’ll tell you alllll about the wedding in the next blog. I hope everyone has an amazing weekend!!

♥️ Bye Friends!! ♥️
