Attending the Truth - Partaking in the light

Updated: May 13, 2021

What’s kickin’ lil’ chicken?? Seriously ya’ll, someone said this to me and I have decided that this is the way to greet people!! That and when you meet someone say to them; you can see me??? I’m pretty sure it was Selah who said that (if not I express my dearest regards!!) Okay, I have a question for y'all. Have you ever noticed that when you flip a light switch that all darkness just fades away in every single corner of the room there is no darkness. The darkness has fled the light has shined in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.- John 1:5. Darkness symbolizes fear many times in the Bible By the free dictionary definition means backing or having very little light lacking brightness darkness all so represents evil with Jesus representing light Jesus is the light and there is a bit of light in each of us that is set ablaze when we accept Jesus. As Christians, there is a difference about us that people will notice and when they ask us about it the question is whether or not we tell them the reason. It is so easy to ignore the fact that we are Christians for many reasons; we don't want to embarrass ourselves, we don't want to lose a friend, or make them think we're weird. Even worse, we feel alone, abandoned by him when we go to share the word. But we are never alone when we share the wonderful word. Whether we go up to people or they ask us the gospel has to be spread. Mark 16:15 says to go unto all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. There's this woman who worked on the staff at a church with over 7,000 people attending. My dad worked on security and decided to share John 3;16 with the woman. She never heard it before!! She had worked there for years and never heard one of the most well known verses in the Bible. That is why we share, even when people don't want to hear or don't immediately drop to their knees and confess and ask for forgiveness you planted the seed. They will carry the thought of you and while it seems like it doesn't make a difference and they don't care the seed will be there and while it may be rocky ground and not grow into anything, there is a good chance that it could be green pastures!! There was this Pastor at a church that I attended to once and he told his testimony during the sermon, and he said that he went on a date with a girl who got in his car and immediately turned the radio to a Christian station (which was pretty bold if you ask me) and he asked her about it. She simply said that she was a Christian. The pastor went on with his daily life and never saw this girl again but the seed that she had planted brought along many questions. There was something about this girl that he couldn't put his finger on. He said that he wanted to investigate and see what made her so different. So, he went to church and this one girl planted a seed by simply turning on the radio and as a result he went to become a missionary and then later on a pastor. Matthew 5:16 says; let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you that we were able to celebrate you today! Thank you that we get to live in a country where we can celebrate and live our lives freely. LORD, we sometimes get ashamed of you and want to hide because it's not cool or "in". LORD, help us to follow you!! We often forget that it was you who made us the people we are today. We often-or at least I do-forget to praise you because we are so busy and and so caught up in what we are doing that we forget to just thank you for the air, the sky, the clouds, H20. We forget that you are the reason that we are able to run free and and do the things that we love. LORD, even if only one person is touched by my struggles and hurt, it will be worth it because that one person is worth so much more than they can ever imagine. Help us to follow you. Help us to praise you, even when others are not pleased. Thank you for this amazing group of people. Touch our hearts LORD. Thank you for giving us the freedom to choose, help us to always choose you.

-in Jesus's beautiful name,

Amen
