Attending the Truth - The Slippery Slope

Updated: Apr 26, 2021

Top O' the mornin to you!! Happy Monday!! I hope ya'll had a great weekend! I have a question for ya'll-this is very important so listen up!! Is chocolate a food group? In my opinion-it is. There is meat, vegetables, Marshmallows, and chocolate! I know ya'll are wondering how this is relevant to what we are talkin' about today.....it isn't!! i just decided to have a random moment!! Now that we've got THAT out of the way.....

What we are talking about today is a problem that a lot of people struggle with-lying. Websters dictionary says that lie means; a false statement deliberately presented to be true; a falsehood. Imagine that you are walking through the woods and suddenly you walk into a giant spiders web ( the hobbit anyone??!) you try and try to get out, struggling but the more you struggle, the more you are stuck. And eventually, in the end, you are completely unable to move. You are cemented. This is what lying does to you. One little lie NEVER ends there. Lying about cleaning your room is just the start, since you got away with it, you think that you can get away with bigger things so you start to lie more often. Lying makes you feel guilty. Proverbs 12:19 says; Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is for a moment. And as the bible says; your sins will find you out. The thing about lying? It separates you from your loved ones. Because if they start to catch you in your lies, they start to realize that they can't trust you. Another sad thing about lying? It separates you from God. Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but those who act faithfully are his delight.-Proverbs 12:22. The thing about the devil is that he feeds you lie after lie; lying is okay, he says, they'll never know. just this once! It is NEVER just once. Lying is a slippery slope, you start to slip and slide when you get caught so you make up other lies to cover up the first lie. So he continues feeds you lie after lie but in the end, instead of feeling full, you feel emptier than when you started. If you want to be with God, you have to repent. Not just to him, but to the person that you sinned against. Acts 3:19 says; Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out. When you repent, instead of all that guilt on your shoulders, you feel free. It is like holding a boulder on your shoulders and when you repent, it falls off!! God ALWAYS forgives you, no matter what you've done. Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:7. When you repent, heaven throws a party!! While it's not easy, and you may lose someones trust, in the end, you feel better and you are closer to God than ever!!

Dear Heavenly Father God,

Thank you for these incredible people. Thank you that we have the freedom to come to you. Thank you that you forgive us no matter what. As Isaiah 1:18 says; "Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are crimson, they shall become like wool. Help us, so when we think of lying, we turn Saten and say; go away devil, take your lies with you. Because that is what he is. The maker of lies. Thank you for always forgiving us no matte what we've done. Thank you for a new week and new chances ahead of us. Help us to glorify you with all our being.

-In Jesus Name,

Amen.
